I used to work from home for a large telecommunications company but retired in April 2018. This was 6 months after celebrating my 45th anniversary of working with STC then Nortel then Ciena. Over the years my career morphed from installing and commissioning telephone exchanges, to planning and scheduling their manufacture and installation, to financial analysis and executive reporting for fibre optical telecommunications.
My favourite saying, which I borrowed from Deke Leonard's hilarious autobiography Rhinos, Winos & Lunatics is "Anything is possible, including the possibility that some things are impossible."
In the evenings I used to spend a lot of time mucking around with my PCs and curated various websites for bands and venues, under the guise of RJWsite. I also ran a local residents' association and helped other associations across Barnet trying to resist some of the more pernicious schemes imposed by those elected and employed to represent us. But that's mostly finished now. We spend as much time as possible having fun with our four grandchildren and their families.
